Speyburn Single Malt Scotch Whisky releases 15 Years Old expression

NEW YORK and ROTHES, Scotland, Sept. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Single Malt Scotch Whisky brand Speyburn has added a new limited release expression to its multi award winning portfolio – the eagerly anticipated 15 Years Old.

Crafted in the stunning natural environment of Speyside – the 15 Years Old is created using fresh spring water from the Granty Burn, a stream flowing with soft and clear spring water and a major tributary of the River Spey. This unique expression has been matured in American oak and Spanish oak casks, adopting the fragrant Speyside air and surrounding rich woodland over time to become a full-bodied and vibrant dram.

The distinctive amber liquid with golden highlights has the aroma of subtle dark chocolate, vanilla, orange, raisins and spice. The rich taste is bursting, with notes of citrus fruits and has a creamy, warm and long-lasting finish.

To coincide with the release of the 15 Years Old, Speyburn has also introduced refreshed packaging. Along with a new label design, the products are now displayed in robust, premium cartons, each featuring the iconic Speyburn Distillery which reflect the heritage and stunning natural landscape of the distillery's home in the heart of Speyside.

Industry News: PUNI Announce The Launch of the First Ever Single Malt Whisky in Italy







Glorenza 11/2015 – PUNI Distillery, the first whisky distillery in Italy, are proud to announce the release of the first Italian Single Malt Whisky. Established in 2010, PUNI Distillery started distilling in February 2012. The spirit was then left to quietly mature in the warehouses for over three years, until it was finally bottled as single malt and launched at the end of October 2015.


"After nurturing our special liquid for so many years, we are very proud to be finally able to share our new Italian-born whisky with the world", commented Mr Jonas Ebensperger, one of the founders of the familyrun business. "We put all our hearts into the making this whisky and we are very excited to give whisky lovers all over the world a chance to taste it."

Located in the heart of the Italian Alps in South Tyrol, PUNI Distillery use locally sourced grain, pure mountain spring water and traditional Scottish copper pot stills to create their whisky. Due to considerable seasonal temperature variations, the Italian Single Malt Whisky matures much faster than other whiskies in other parts of the world, acquiring complex aromas even at a young age. To showcase the variety and complexity of flavours, PUNI distillery have released two expressions with completely different taste profiles:

Nova, meaning “new” in latin, is a wonderfully delicate yet spicy single malt with warming and sweet aromas of honey, banana and vanilla. Matured for three years in American Ex-Bourbon barrels, PUNI Nova was then finished in European oak casks.

Meaning “dawn” in Italian, but also “Scotland” in Scots Gaelic, PUNI Alba offers a complex bouquet of candy fruits, sultanas and exotic fruits entwined with warm, reassuring hints of smoke. PUNI Alba was matured for more than two years in Marsala dessert wine casks and one year in ex-Islay casks. This mouth-watering combination of the fruity flavours of Italy and the smoky notes of the Scottish island match harmoniously.

The quality of the liquid inside is reflected in the luxury packaging specially designed by up-and-coming Italian designer Christian Zanzotti. “With a background in industrial design, including cars, furniture and luxury goods, Zanzotti fully embraced this project and delivered a fantastic design, which we love and which we hope our consumers will too” added Mr Ebensperger.


To commemorate the birth of the very first Italian single malt, PUNI Distillery have released 977 individually numbered and hand-signed bottles from the first batch., which were bottled at 54% ABV. Alcohol Spotlight: Laphroaig Single Malt Islay Whisky




Each year our Master Distiller, John Campbell, makes a limited edition malt to celebrate friendship (“Cairdeas” in Gaelic). The 2015 bottling is produced from our finest malting floor’s malt, distilled using only the smaller stills, and fully matured in our famous No. 1 warehouse, right by the sea. Testing Notes

NOSE: Initially a sweet note of red apple blossom moving quickly into a rich cask char flavor.

The never-ending peaty tones move slightly into a licorice toffee note that has amazing depth and balance.
