Industry News: Jim Beam® Unveils Groundbreaking “Drinkable Wearable,” Jim Beam® Apple Watch

A new way to enjoy a refreshing shot of Jim Beam® Apple, from the innovators behind the World's No. 1 bourbon

DEERFIELD, Ill., Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Technology fans all over the world woke up this morning anticipating some truly revolutionary technology news, and Jim Beam®, the world's No. 1 Bourbon, provided it by sharing its latest innovation: the Jim Beam® Apple Watch.

A preview of the first generation Jim Beam Apple Watch, the world's most innovative "drinkable wearable" can be viewed on YouTube, and is available for pre-order on www.JimBeamAppleWatch.com. It's a slick, stylish accessory that conveniently packs a 1.5 oz. shot glass right on your wrist, allowing you to connect with friends over refreshing shots rather than refreshed newsfeeds.

Each Jim Beam Apple Watch is aged in a rackhouse at the Jim Beam® American Stillhouse in Clermont, Ky., alongside barrels of bourbon. The watch's streamlined interface opens and closes manually on demand. And, while it doesn't tell time, it does save time, eliminating the need for a last-minute shot glass search.

"Critics may ask, 'What good is a watch that can't tell time?' " said Fred Noe, Jim Beam's 7th Generation Master Distiller. "We actually think we've created a watch that helps you make time. Who doesn't want to make time for friends, family and a refreshing Jim Beam Apple shot or cocktail?"

Released in 2015, Jim Beam Apple has quickly become one of the most successful line extensions in the seven generation history of Jim Beam, delivering refreshingly crisp cocktails in record numbers to bourbon drinkers, bartenders and now, Jim Beam Apple Watch users.

For a limited time only, the Jim Beam Apple Watch will be available for pre-order at: www.JimBeamAppleWatch.com while supplies last. Priced the same as the suggested retail price of a delicious 750mL bottle of refreshing Jim Beam Apple, the Jim Beam Apple Watch costs just $17.99.

Jim Beam Apple marries the taste of crisp, green apples and Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, resulting in a perfect balance of apple and delicious bourbon, with a light, juicy twist. Jim Beam Apple is sold at the suggested retail price of $17.99 for 750mL, and in bars and retail locations nationwide. Price varies by market and product size, which includes 50mL, 100mL, 375mL, 750mL, 1L and 1.75L.

Tech Spotlight: Adidas miCoach Fit Smart Fuelband

Adidas has joined the growing ranks of fitness brands getting in on the wearable tech craze, coming up with its own wristband called the miCoach Fit Smart, which has been announced this week after rumors of its arrival spread in early July. While it may look like a FuelBand competitor, it’s not going to appeal to those who want to casually track their activities all day, every day. Instead, the Fit Smart is going to appeal to seriously sporty fitness fanatics only.

It has a heart rate monitor built in, which shows how your body is reacting to exercise, so as overly tanned fitness instructor may say, you can stay “in the zone.” Adidas has fitted a set of FuelBand-like LED lights to the Fit Smart, which provide a visual guide to how intensely you’re working out. There are four color coded zones, blue, green, yellow, and red, helping you stay motivated. The wrist band vibrates to let you know when you shift to the next level.

Tech Spotlight: Nissan Joins Smartwatch Race

Smartwatch launches may be few and far between at the present time, but the signs are that the trickle will before long become a steady flow, and judging by Nissan’s surprise announcement Monday, every square inch of the market involving the high-tech device will be exploited to the full.

The Japanese car company has just pulled the wraps off the Nismo smartwatch, a device it claims is the first to connect driver and car.

Though currently a concept device, the car maker is set to display the wearable tech at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which kicks off on Thursday. Initially designed for owners of Nissan’s Nismo performance cars, the tech could conceivably be rolled out to drivers of others vehicles in the company’s line-up if the initial version proves popular.

Tech Watch: Kisai Breathalyzer Watch

While we wouldn't recommend it for determining if you're good to drive, the Kisai Breathalyzer Watch ($100) could make for some pretty interesting bar games. After breathing into the side of the watch, an LED backlight responds, turning green if you're sober, yellow if you're tipsy, and red if you're drunk — as well as displaying your BAC percentage. The stainless steel watch has an adjustable band and a USB-rechargeable battery that lasts for a month on a charge. It also displays the time, of course, so last call won't sneak up on you.

Foxconn is Trial Manufacturing Apple Upcoming iWatch

With Apple’s “iWatch” likely to release this year, we’re starting to hear rumors about components being cobbled together just before the company starts ramping up production of the device. The latest news came in from Taiwan media Economic Times, Foxconn has received 1000 trial products of the iWatch from Apple. The Curpertino company is looking into using 1.5-inch display panels for its upcoming smartwatch. Early rumors claimed that iWatch would have a 1.8-inch display, so it seems that Apple may be thinking of reducing the device’s size to make it look good on your wrist. The displays are being manufactured by the organic EL panel maker RiTdisplay of Taiwan with touch sensors integrated right into the display, rather than there being a separate multitouch layer. The new iWatch is using bluetooth connection, so we believe it’s able to scyn data and info from iPhone and iPad. The news also pointed out that Apple will be released the iPhone 6 first (not iPhone 5s ? ), no release schedule for the iWatch yet.
