About the Company
I'm the fluff artist and a pretty high energy Detroit mom and grandma. I love food and am passionate about all kinds of creating. I have fallen in love with the process of creating marshmallows. They are like my blank page on which to create my masterpieces.

I moved to Detroit ten years ago hoping to find the perfect opportunity for contributing to the rebuilding of the city. I hope with our marshmallows, that I have created a product that provides the hard-working people of our city an opportunity to indulge in a time out from daily concerns.

My daughter Kelsey (who is also my business partner) and her family moved to Detroit last year. Shortly after she moved here, Kelsey decided she would like to open a candy store. It was in researching that project that we discovered handmade marshmallows.

We are beyond excited about this big, sweet journey and truly look forward to serving Detroiters yummy SWEET treats and all the joy it brings!

Product Spotlight: Arrfscarf Meat Flavored Ice Cream

We wanted our pup to experience ice cream. We wanted it to be healthy, nutritious, and fresh. We set out to create the best dog ice cream. It all begins with yogurt, vanilla, and honey. Those three ingredients are the simple base. The magic happens when we pair our ice cream base with one of our flavor creations.  Now, we are on a mission to share our amazing creation with all the pups in the world.

Flavors:

Peanut Butter Bacon

Our signature ice cream starts with bacon. We crisp the bacon to its perfect state, crispy but not too crispy. Then we combine our ice cream base with fresh unsalted peanut butter and the crispy bacon. The end result is decadent treat for dogs.

Fresh Ground Unsalted Peanut Butter. Natural Bacon. Vanilla. Honey. Greek Yogurt.

Beef Brisket

Eight hours simmering in the oven with yams and carrots, our beef brisket comes to life slowly. The beef is shredded, the yams are mashed, and they are all combined with our ice cream base. Your pup can experience a delicious beef entree all from a small cup of ice cream.

Locally Sourced Beef Brisket. Organic Yams. Vanilla. Honey. Greek Yogurt.

Chicken Cheddar

Just like humans, dogs love choices. We wanted to create something more like a "meal" rather than a snack. We use farm fresh chicken breasts paired with sharp cheddar cheese and Greek yogurt.  We wanted to wake up a dog's taste buds and I think we created a winner.

Chicken Breast. Cheddar Cheese. Vanilla. Honey. Coconut Milk. Greek Yogurt.

Pulled Pork

We love carnitas and channeled our inspiration to create Pulled Pork dog ice cream. We paired a braised pork with delicious dried cranberries. Pups can now experience something akin to carnitas and it is something healthy at the same time.

Pork Loin. Organic Dried Cranberries. Vanilla. Honey.  Yogurt.

So Bad, It’s Good: Repositioning Treats

Brands struggle to meet consumer’s desires for healthy and indulgent

The continued obesity crisis in the US perfectly illustrates consumers’ desires to have their cake and eat it too—literally. Americans are increasingly aware of the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle, but are not as willing to give up their treats. Companies like Pepsi, for example, have been caught in this catch-22, as consumers avoid sodas in favor of bottled water, energy drinks, and other “good for you” options. As a result, Pepsi is launching Pepsi Next, a low-calorie soda that resembles the sweet taste of the original, but reduces the sugar and calorie intake by more than half.

Many brands have altered their products to better fit consumers’ desires to be more health-conscious. For example, traditionally unhealthy brands like Nabisco, Hostess, and Frito Lay have developed 100-calorie snacks that resemble their original high-calorie product.

But what happens if a brand doesn’t want to (or can’t) alter their product ? Sometimes health is just a matter of perception. In recent years, chocolate manufacturers have been repositioning dark chocolate from being detrimental to one’s health to being beneficial. Recent studies have suggested that dark chocolate can improve cardiovascular health, and that the natural antioxidants found in cocoa can be as beneficial as green tea or blueberries. These same antioxidants are also shown to reduce enhance blood flow, reduce blood pressure, and reduce the risks of heart disease and cancer. As a result, many brands are now promoting chocolate as a healthy indulgence.

Rather than marketing a product’s sweet and rich taste, brands are becoming more focused on presenting the product’s health benefits to attract consumers. And that’s just what we want! As the obesity problem won’t be going away any time soon, we expect that brands will continue to encourage consumers to indulge in a treat that’s not quite as bad as they might think.

9 Bizarre Japanese Treats

The Japanese are no stranger to weird, bizarre, and downright unsettling culinary concoctions, but sometimes you come across some that you just have to try.

Here are nine items from Japan that will make you do a double take:

1. Tentacle Grape

Flavored sodas, such as the popular Jones’ Soda, are a dime a dozen, but you would be hard pressed to find something called “Tentacle Grape” outside of Japan. A play on the popular and utterly bizarre Japanese phenomenon known as “tentacle rape,” this grape-flavored soda is a must have for anime fans and die-hard collectors of all things Japanese alike!

2. Pocari Sweat Powder

OK, so like Tentacle Grape, it’s not a weird food infusion, but with a name like “sweat powder,” you almost feel compelled to order up a few packages of the stuff. Of course, it’s not sweat; instead, you’re treated to a fine powder you add to water to replace the vitamins and minerals lost through sweat while working out. If you think about it, it’s actually perfectly named!

3. Sushi-flavored Japanese Food Drops

“Drop Candies” were popular during World War II, and Japan has helped to bring them back for the new millennium. They come in a variety of flavors (including beer!), but one has to marvel at the ingenuity behind designing a candy that tastes like every American’s favorite import, sushi. Pair it up with some Saki and you got a cheap and easy way to enjoy sushi!

4. Morinaga Sweet Potato Caramel

Caramel is sweet and gooey, with a unique flavor. It’s essentially sugar, so how can it be bad? Well, you can add all sorts of crazy flavors to it, and that’s exactly what Morinaga did. But would you really want to try sweet potato-flavored caramel? Ya never know — it might be good!

5. Wasabi-flavored Kit-Kat

Wasabi Flavored Kit Kat e1330018820407 9 Bizarre Japanese Treats picture

Japan has become well-known for their odd and varied flavors of the popular candy bar Kit-Kat, but nothing can beat wasabi-flavored Kit-Kat. A tasty mix of chocolate, wafer, and the ultra spicy condiment wasabi ensure a tasty treat you’ll be dying to show your friends.

6. Tomato de Chocolate

Tomato Chocolate e1330018792949 9 Bizarre Japanese Treats picture

Wasabi may be a weird thing to pair with chocolate, but what about tomatoes? Meiji’s “Tomato de Chocolate” is a tomato-infused chocolate bar designed to help you “learn to love the flavors of nature.” Tomatoes belong on a pizza, or a salad, but a chocolate bar? Hey, at least it’s not wasabi.

7. Glico Salad Pretzels

Salad Flavored Pretzels e1330018749665 9 Bizarre Japanese Treats picture

Pretzels are awesome. They’re great for dipping into things (Cheese, anyone?), or just as a quick snack. Salads, not so much. But what if you combined the two? Glico brand “Let’s Pretz!” salad-flavored pretzels offer the best of both worlds in a convenient packaging!

8. Fuwarinka Rose Essence Soft Candy

The aroma of fresh roses is inviting, but what about their taste? This rose-flavored soft candy not only tastes like roses, but is also infused with a number of vitamins and other additions to help reduce wrinkles and prevent aging. Does it work? There’s only one way to find out!

9. Chocolate Medicine for the Love Sick

OK, so it’s not weird or bizarre, but you can’t argue against the cutesy appeal of giving a friend who just got dumped a box of these chocolate candies designed to lift the spirits and mend a broken heart.
