PURCHASE, N.Y., Jan. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Mountain Dew believes that every epic adventure should have an equally epic kick start. Today, the brand introduced two new bold flavors of Mtn Dew Kickstart – Pineapple Orange Mango and Strawberry Kiwi – fusing an energizing blast of DEW® with real fruit juice, coconut water and just the right amount of kick. With only 60 calories per 12 oz. can, these two new flavors are perfect for sparking a damn good time, anytime, anywhere.

Drink Spotlight: Mountain Dew Set to Launch Doritos Flavored Soda

 

 

Mountain Dew has confirmed they are set to launch a Doritos flavored soda.  Marketing ploy, attention grabber? Maybe, maybe not.  One thing is for certain, there are people that are very fanatical about both Mountain Dew and Doritos.  Combining the two may seem cringe worthy for many but also may sound delightful to others. Apparently the product is being tested on college campuses with not so bad reviews.

 

I wouldn't bet on this product lasting long term so expect a limited edition launch.

Mountain Dew to Launch ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Ad Campaign

Mountain Dew has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ summer blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ to roll out a new promotional campaign.

Mountain Dew will offer fans exclusive digital experience and storylines from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ before the film’s premiere on July 20 at DEWGothamCity.com. Fans will be able to participate in sweepstakes for a chance to win exclusive prizes. The experience will launch June 18.

The brand will also launch the dedicated packaging featuring a Dark Knight graphic and temperature-sensitive cans that change when chilled, to Mtn Dew Dark Berry, a new limited-edition mixed berry flavor inspired by the Caped Crusader character. The flavor will be available nationwide for 8 weeks beginning in mid June.

Members of the Dew Crew will vote to select which of four Dark Knight paint schemes that will appear on Dale’s #88 Chevrolet this season. Voting begins at www.dewcrew.com on May 12.

“Mountain Dew is all about fueling passion and that is what this partnership is based on,” said Brett O’Brien, Vice President of Marketing for Mountain Dew. “You’d be hard-pressed to find more passionate fans than those of DEW and The Dark Knight franchise. The all-integrated campaign will be supported in-store, on TV, radio and digital advertising.

Kickstart: Mountain Dew Launching Breakfast Soda

Pepsi to offer an alternative to energy drinks without the weird ingredients that have vexed consumers

If you don't like coffee or tea, Mountain Dew has a new breakfast drink that might perk you up.

PepsiCo Inc. is rolling out a new drink called Kickstart this month that has Mountain Dew flavor but is made with 5 percent juice and Vitamins B and C, along with an extra jolt of caffeine.

The company, based in Purchase, N.Y., is hoping to boost sales by reaching Mountain Dew fans at a new time of day: morning.

PepsiCo said it doesn't consider Kickstart to be an energy drink, noting that it still has far less caffeine than drinks like Monster and Red Bull and none of the mysterious ingredients that have raised concerns among lawmakers and consumer advocates.

But Kickstart, which comes in flavors such as "energizing orange citrus" and "energizing fruit punch," could nevertheless give the company a side-door into the fast-growing energy drink market without getting tangled in any of its controversies. The drink comes in the same 16-ounce cans as popular energy drinks made by Monster Beverage Corp., which also offers options with juice content. And the TV ad features young men skateboarding, reminiscent of the marketing themes used by energy drink makers.

Simon Lowden, chief marketing officer for PepsiCo's Americas beverages, says the idea for Kickstart came about after the company learned through consumer research that Mountain Dew fans were looking for an alternative to traditional morning drinks such as coffee, tea and juice.

"They didn't really see anything that fit their needs," he said.

Lowden said Kickstart was developed independently from a Taco Bell breakfast drink introduced last year that combines Mountain Dew and orange juice. PepsiCo says Kickstart, which is carbonated, is also not a soda because its 5 percent juice content qualifies it to be considered a "juice drink" under guidelines set by the Food and Drug Administration. A spokeswoman for the FDA said the agency doesn't have definitions for what qualifies as a soda or an energy drink.

Color-changing ink on Mountain Dew can reveals ‘Dark Knight’

A new larger, 16-oz can for Mountain Dew is available for a limited time that uses color-changing ink that turns a bat image from grey to green when the can is chilled.

As record summer temperatures and severe drought conditions fan across America, PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew is aiming to quench the thirst of consumers with a new can that is one-third larger than their traditional 12-oz offering. And to help capture consumers’ attention, the can features color-changing artwork aimed at the brand’s target audience nationwide. The limited-edition 16-oz can of Mountain Dew, when chilled to 46.4° F, features an easily recognizable symbol—a bat outline, promoting the feature film The Dark Knight Rises—that transforms itself to the distinctive green color of Mountain Dew, using specialized inks from Chromatic Technologies, Inc. “Mountain Dew was able to use CTI’s thermochromic ink to create an interactive experience with their limited-edition can promotion,” explains Melanie Edwards, CTI’s manager of strategic sales initiatives. “By incorporating CTI’s cold-activated, color-changing ink technology into this special offering, it truly elevates the consumer interaction potential of the beverage package.”

Taco Bell is Mixing Mountain Dew and Orange Juice for Breakfast, Calling it ‘Mtn Dew A.M.”

Reddit user Allen Jacoby has spotted a buzz worthy breakfast drink item at his local Taco Bell location dubbed Mtn Dew A.M.

The new drink is apparently served until 11 a.m. at a currently unknown location, and features a hybrid of vitamins and caffeine by combining a ‘where have I heard of this before‘ mix of orange juice and Mountain Dew.

Sounds like a refreshing, less-caffeinated alternative to a coffee, a more sparkly alternative to a traditional orange juice, and a few vodka shots short of a worthy nighttime drink.

Mountain Dew Releases New Dark Berry Flavor to Promote ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Movie Release

With the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises film release coming in late July, Mountain Dew has teamed up to release a limited time only flavor called Dark Berry.

The collaboration will include both in store and on-pack Dark Knight takeovers, and the flavor itself will be on store shelves for eight weeks beginning in June.

In addition, there will be select 16-oz cans of Mtn Dew that will receive a Thermochromic face-lift inspired by the Dark Knight himself. Special cans will use a special ink to feature a bat symbol that illuminates DEW green when chilled.
