Ben & Jerry’s Announces New Flavors For 2013

This year, Ben & Jerry’s will debut five new flavors, including Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz, Chocolate Peppermint Crunch, Candy Bar Pie, Pineapple Passionfruit and Vanilla Honey Caramel. Here are the details:

Previously only available at Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop locations, Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz has been re-released in retail pints and features coffee-flavored ice cream drizzled with chunks of espresso bean fudge. The Chocolate Peppermint Crunch flavor features chocolate ice cream, peppermint and fudge swirls and mint chocolate cookies. The two new Greek frozen yogurt flavors, Pineapple Passionfruit and Vanilla Honey Caramel, are each made, respectively, with pineapple Greek frozen yogurt, pineapple pieces and a passion fruit swirl, and vanilla Greek frozen yogurt with a honey caramel swirl. Ben & Jerry’s most recent flavor, the Liz Lemon Greek yogurt, will be available through May 31. The most exciting flavor of the bunch by far, however, is the Candy Bar Pie. Sadly only available in scoop shops, it consists of peanut butter ice cream, fudge flakes, chocolate nougat and sweet & salty pretzel swirls.

HEINZ Launches New Tomato Ketchup with Mexican Chilli

In response to the growing trend for adventurous new flavours, Heinz is launching new Heinz Tomato Ketchup with Mexican Chilli.

Harnessing the growth of traditional Mexican cuisine as one of Britain’s favourite flavours, the sauce is the latest addition to the Heinz Tomato Ketchup Chilli Range which also includes the Heinz Tomato Ketchup with Fiery Chilli variety.

Available in-store in early March, Heinz Tomato Ketchup with Mexican Chilli is available in a 255g pack format with an RRP of £1.09.

Best enjoyed as a side-of-plate accompaniment to nachos, fajitas and chilli con carne, the new table sauce delivers a very different flavour from Heinz Tomato Ketchup with Fiery Chilli.

It provides a Mexican herb-filled taste with a kick and all Heinz Tomato Ketchup products, it has no artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup with Fiery Chilli and the new Heinz Tomato Ketchup with Mexican Chilli also feature a brand new label as part of a refreshed range design.

To create further stand-out on shelf, both products will sit in coloured trays – red for the Fiery Chilli flavour and bright orange for Mexican Chilli.

We've all heard that the first bite is taken with the eye – but the link between our visual sense and our flavour perception may be stronger than you think.

Charles Spence, the Oxford experimental psychologist who helped Heston Blumenthal develop some of his playful multisensory signature dishes, places vision right up there with smell, in flavour's "premier league", if you will. Taste sits far below with sound and texture and touch. "Half the brain is visual in some sense," says Spence, "versus just a few per cent for overall taste senses. So in cortical real estate, vision is always going to win." This is in part why the colour of our food and drink can not only determine whether it is appetising, but its flavour, too.

Heinz Launches Limited Edition Ketchup with Sweet Chilli

Heinz has unveiled a new flavour of Heinz Tomato Ketchup blended with Sweet Chilli.

The kick of sweet chilli is an accompaniment to the Heinz Tomato Ketchup taste, so Heinz is excited to be launching this limited edition sauce.

In a ‘first’ for Heinz Tomato Ketchup in the UK, Heinz has also produced a special accessory to spice up the bottle which is available exclusively on Facebook.

Heinz has teamed up with International Pop Art artist Orla Walsh to design bespoke bottle jackets to make this new addition to the ketchup family more unique.

These jackets, inspired by the chillies in the new flavour, zip around the bottle.

Facebook fans can be the very first to get their hands on a bottle of this limited edition complete with jacket which will be available on the Heinz Tomato Ketchup UK Facebook page from 8th March.

There are two ways to get hold of one the jackets – either enter a daily draw to win or purchase a bottle of the new flavour.

Each bottle will come wrapped in the chosen Limited Edition bottle jacket, but there’s only a limited number available.

Those who miss out via Facebook can grab a bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup blended with Sweet Chilli in stores from 10th March.

As with the rest of the Heinz Tomato Ketchup range, the new limited edition contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
