Dairy Spotlight: Santa Clara Cappuccino Milk

Lechita (meaning little milk) from Santa Clara is a small carton of ice cream-flavored milk for kids. However, this product line has a difference — along with the three regular flavors of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla, Lechita also comes in capucchino [sic] flavor, once again reflecting the Mexican love of coffee.

Lechita is made from reduced fat milk and contains vitamins A, D3, B1, B6, and B12, calcium, iron, zinc, and folic acid to promote healthy growth in children.

About the Company
Santa Clara was founded in 1924 in Pachuca, the capital city of Hidalgo, beginning as a milk delivery business for homes in the area. The company expanded its line to the ice creams it is known for today in 1985, and the first store opened the following year. In 1988, Santa Clara further extended its line of products to yogurts and cheeses, and today produces a wide range of dairy products.

Sunmagic unveils four new exotic juice drinks

Sunmagic, the 100% pure fruit juice, smoothie and juice drink brand has launched four new delicious drinks, which are available now.

The full-flavoured new drinks can be consumed straight, or as a mixer in cocktails and mocktails, and comprise Sunmagic: Mango Juice Drink; Passion Fruit Juice Drink; Pineapple & Coconut Juice Drink; and Pomegranate Juice Drink. The new drinks are packaged in one-litre recap packs and carry the strapline The Taste of the Tropical Sun, reflecting the origin of the fruits.

The four new juices contain no artificial colours, sweeteners, flavourings or preservatives, are suitable for vegetarians and all benefit from excellent nutritional properties. Mangoes are renowned for their protective nutrients including vitamin C and beta carotene (vitamin A), whilst passion fruit is also high in potassium and anti-oxidants.

An added benefit of drinking the pineapple & coconut juice is that they are both known fruits for aiding digestion. The popularity of pomegranates has risen sharply over the last couple of years with many referring to the tropical fruit as a ‘super-fruit’, thanks to it being a fantastic natural source of vitamins including folic acid.

The drinks are a great alternative as a breakfast juice or throughout the day, at home or on the move and outdoor eating occasions such as summer picnics.

Razin Ali, Sunmagic brand manager, says: “We are delighted to be launching four exotic new juice flavours in time for spring and summer drinking occasions. This is a natural brand extension from our core range of seven one-litre juices into a more exotic landscape.”

The four drinks have an RSP of £1.59 and are available now in over 720 Tesco stores in the UK.

Pop-Tarts ‘Gone Nutty’ Debut In Peanut Butter, Frosted Chocolate Peanut Butter Flavors

Kellogg's has debuted two new Pop-Tarts flavors: peanut butter and frosted peanut butter. The "Gone Nutty" varieties, which both contain a peanut butter filling, pack a sugary punch -- the peanut butter flavor is topped with a sprinkling of sugar crystals and the frosted chocolate flavor features a frosted chocolate crust.

"Peanut butter has long been the most requested flavor by our fans," said Dick Podiak, director of marketing for Pop-Tarts, in a press release (peanut allergy increases be damned!).

According to Foodbeast, this is the first time in 27 years that Pop-Tarts have been available in a peanut butter flavor -- peanut butter & jelly Pop-Tarts were discontinued in 1986.

The Malia Bar Story:

MALIA BAR began when Lisa Fernandes couldn't find a snack food good enough for Maya, her school-going daughter

Lisa insisted it be genuinely wholesome, but knew it had to be great tasting as well. While tasty and convenient snacks were plentiful in the Indian marketplace, what Lisa considered truly healthy & nutritious were just not in plain sight. This, despite several brands making tall claims

Her only solution was to make it herself. And fortunately she was splendidly equipped to do it.

In the many years Lisa lived overseas, her keen interest in nutrition and 'eating healthy' got serious traction. She participated in various forums, groups and professional courses, all linked to the premise that 'you are what you eat'. Further, easy access to the choicest healthy ingredients from all over the world contributed to Lisa's expanding repertoire. That her husband, Ajit, was himself in the thick of marketing consulting in the burgeoning North American Organic & Natural Foods market, further enhanced her insights. He had done projects on several packaged food products including 'raw-food' nutrition bars that were simple, pure and delicious. So Lisa knew that a snack could be at the same time wholesome, healthy & delicious

The nutrition bars that Lisa made based on Ajit's notes were a hit. Discerning folks instantly realized its value and soon Lisa was persuaded to make more than her family required. She was overwhelmed with orders and that set the stage for a cutting edge international product to be made and marketed in India

So how did MALIA BAR get its name?
Well, MALIA (pronounced MH-LEE-AH) is derived from the first syllable of three names - Maya, Lisa and Ajit. MALIA is also a Hawaiian name that translates as 'calm waters', and is the name of Lisa's toddler. Incidentally, Malia is a great fan of MALIA BAR

inSpiral Kale Chips have exploded in popularity in the past year – featured in Elle UK, Stylist Mag, Elle Russia , Vogue and Health & Beauty periodicals – and are currently the number one selling product in UK Wholefoods Markets.
Health and vitality are constant areas of media interest. The ‘raw food’ scene has really taken off with many film and music stars ‘going raw’. Raw food provides the body with the enzymes and nutrients destroyed when food is cooked above 42°C. Enzymes are the body’s workforce; they aid digestion and facilitate the conversion of food into cell tissue.
We eat to fuel our bodies. The best way to do this is with optimum nutrition ingredients such as superfoods which have unrivalled nutrient-calorie ratios. The best way to keep these ingredients ‘alive’ is to keep them raw through dehydrating.
Back to the Kale Chips…Imagine a bag of green curly kale – officially the most nutrient-dense vegetable per calorie with more iron than beef and more calcium than milk – shrunk to the size of a packet of crisps, with the same satisfying crispy crunch but only 50-60 calories per 35g packet!
A moreish, all day snack, inSpiral Kale Chips are made from organic Kale, hand massaged in a raw organic cashew based sauce – made from soaked nuts for optimum digestion – and 100% natural ingredients and superfoods. Slow dehydrated, the result is a satisfying raw snack that is dried, not fried, so contains none of the heated oils or trans fats associated with crisps.

Wasabi Wheatgrass Kale Chips are rich in chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, vitamins and enzymes that aid detoxification.

Cheesie Purple Corn Kale Chips contain purple corn, a Peruvian superfood rich in phytonutrients and antioxidants. The ‘cheesie’ flavour comes from de‐activated nutritional yeast.

Baobab & Onion Kale Chips include baobab, king of the superfruits -rich in macronutrients, antioxidants, and essential minerals.

Cacao & Cinnamon Kale Chips flavoured with antioxidant-rich raw cacao, sweetened with low GI, mineral rich 100% natural coconut palm sugar and combined with cinnamon, a great source of calcium and vitamins C and K.

Raspberry Maca Kale Chips are a nut-free alternative, flavoured with antioxidant rich raspberries, energy boosting maca root, sweetened with coconut sugar and cacao butter.
