Spirits Spotlight: Colorado High Hemp Vodka

Colorado High Mtn Vodka is an innovative spirit CO High is the first Vodka in the US fermented & distilled with Real Hemp. So smooth, and oh yeah MELLOW.

Colorado High Vodka grew out of a desire to create the most mellow small batch vodka in the world. After several years of perfecting the delicate art of distilling hemp, a crop grown for thousands of years and which Thomas Jefferson called, “of the greatest importance to our nation,” that desire became a reality.

Hemp contributes a refined yet rich, nutty profile to our hand-crafted process. Whereas some distillers have experimented with infusing vodka with hemp, ours is fermented and distilled with 51% raw hemp – truly making it one of a kind.

Hemp-crafting is an art form. It is handmade with the knowledge that taking time during the process will bear delicious fruit. To be hemp-crafted is to be made with care.

Colorado GMO Labeling Bill Wins Key Citizens Initiative Review Endorsement

Right to Know Colorado Wins GMO Labeling Debate at Citizens Initiative Review

WHEAT RIDGE, Colorado (Sept. 11, 2014) – Right to Know Colorado, the campaign supporting GMO labeling’s Proposition 105 on Colorado’s November ballot, is celebrating a victory today winning an 11-9 vote at the Citizen Initiative Review (CIR)’s panel of pro- and anti-GMO labeling presentations.

“Coloradans have the right to know what is in the food they buy and consume," said Tammi DeVille Merrell, Campaign Manager of Right to Know Colorado. "Sixty-four countries around the world require GMO labeling, and 16 of the top 25 countries that import Colorado food products also require GMO labeling, it is just commonsense our state should too. Today is a great win for our campaign."

The CIR works like a jury process. CIR mailed letters and applications to 5,000 voters around the state, looking for participants. A select group of 20 citizens were picked to participate that reflected the voter composition of the state, in terms of location, education, and other factors.

On Monday, those 20 citizens convened in Denver for three days of intensive study on the measure. They researched the initiative and viewed presentations from those in favor and against. They also heard from neutral sources, who were also agreed upon by both sides. The event was open to the public.

"When voters hear information transparently from both sides, they choose to be more informed," said DeVille Merrell. "Right to Know Colorado was glad to participate in this democratic process and looks forward to another victory for Coloradans this November."

The Colorado CIR will produce a voter guide on Proposition 105. The review is a pilot program aimed to help voters understand complicated ballot measures better.

The review is available at http://healthydemocracy.org/colorado-citizens-initiative-review/proposition-105-final/.

Snack Spotlight: Boulder Gluten Free Granola

No more deprivation of flavor for those of you who eat gluten-free! I’ve created a gluten-free granola using the same recipe that was given to me by my Mom, Samantha, over 40 years ago, using only ORGANIC Certified Gluten-Free Oats and Oat Bran! It’s just as delicious as the original granola.

Although oats are naturally gluten-free, certified gluten-free oats are kept separate from other grains, are grown in fields not contaminated with gluten grains, and are processed on equipment only used for gluten-free grains. The oats are then stored, harvested, and transported by non-contaminated transport.

Also, since it has been found that Gluten Intolerance in many cases causes Lactose Intolerance, this variety is also dairy free!

All Boulder Granolas are simply delicious as a healthy breakfast of homemade organic granola and as an anytime healthy snack. Mix with fresh fruit, milk, yogurt or, for a more decadent snack, with ice cream. Wake up your mojo any time of the day!
