About Runa

RUNA was founded in 2009, days after we graduated from college. But our story begins several years earlier, when Tyler was living with the Kichwa people in the Ecuadorian Amazon. It was then he was introduced to guayusa – a naturally caffeinated tree leaf brewed like tea, consumed early in the morning to help interpret dreams and late at night to provide energy and clarity while hunting in the jungle. He loved the earthy flavor, smooth taste, and energy boost he got from the leaf.

Living and working in Latin and South America, we both saw how unsustainable activities like logging were enticing ways for people living in the rainforest to pay for education and medicine. We also saw how development projects implemented by NGOs often floundered because they lacked buy-in from local stakeholders.

Product Spotlight: Blueprint Juice Cleansers

BluePrintCleanse's signature cold pressed juices are newly single and ready to be picked up at select retail locations. Each 16 oz serving is 100% raw and organic. Grab a bottle to add more fruits and veggies to your daily routine or snag some juice to supplement your cleanse.

Flavors Include: Green, Cashew Vanilla Cinnamon Agave, Pinapple Apple Mint, Beet Apple Carrot Lemon Ginger, Lemon Cayenne Agave, Lime Ginger Lemon Agave

We swear to give you the juice, the whole juice and nothing but the juice.

These are the simple rules we live by:

  1. The freshest fruits and vegetables make the best juice. Keep me cold.
  2. Juice should never be cooked. Cooking juice kills vitamins and live enzymes. Even “flash” pasteurized means cooked.
  3. Don’t have separation anxiety. Only additives can prevent the natural settling process and who wants to drink additives? Stop staring and give me a little shake shake.
  4. Treat your body right. Drinking fresh juice and eating real food is a smart long-term strategy for maintaining good health.

Packaging Spotlight: More Fruit Juices

This clean beautiful design is very fresh and pushes a more natural appeal to the consumer.  Minimalist packaging puts the spotlight on the fruits and flavors and the uncluttered look helps the packaging to stand out next to its competition.

“More is a premium fruit juice which contains high percentage of real fruit extracts, therefore the name “More” was selected for the brand. The plus (+) icon on the package is used as a symbol to indicate the rich fruit ingredient of More. The plus changes color according to the flavor. White is used all over the package. Plus and white emphasizes the health and triggers the perception of hygene. White is also differentiating the package of More from the other fruit juices on the market shelves and putting it forward. The simplicity of the package is an advantage. Illustrations on the package are effective but not distorting the simplicity.”

What Exactly is ‘Clean Eating?’

The "clean food" movement is a recent one, spurred on by food magazines like the new Clean Eating and powerful media proponents like Dr. Oz. But its roots are in something as old as the American soil that nurtures and grows whole fruits and vegetables and the grasslands where livestock roamed.

The term generally refers to the eating of food as close to its natural state and point of origin as possible, and the movement is a reaction against the health problems caused by our growing fast food-oriented diet.

It's also a rebellion against some of Big Agriculture's controversial practices regarding beef, poultry and genetically modified crops. While eating fresh is preferred, canning and home-preserving are generally welcomed, too.

"I want people to eat whole, minimally processed food because it's nutritionally dense, affordable and good for the environment," said Lauren Niemes, executive director of Nutritional Council of Greater Cincinnati.

That includes plenty of fruits and vegetables, but also applies to other choices. "If you eat food in the form closest to nature, that means buying a turkey breast or a whole chicken and cooking it yourself, as opposed to buying (prepared) chicken nuggets. The challenge means you have to cook, which many people will have to learn. That's a good thing."
