Brief

IS IT A BIRD? THIS IS A PLANE?
NO, IT'S FLIEGER!

Oatmeal porridge is good for you and can be tasty if properly cooked.
But... very few people like it, especially kids, so parents have to come up with all sorts of tricks for their little ones
to eat porridge. For example, they make it like a game: "Uh-uh, it’s an airplane flying — open your mouth to catch it"

It was this simple game-like mechanics that became an idea for branding and packaging development for a series
of high-quality oatmeal cereals with blueberries, strawberries and apples. We took the easily memorized German colloquial
word ‘Flieger’, which means "airplane", and developed an easily-read color code system for the packaging.

Juicy bright colors and large shapes allow the product to stand out on the shelf among the average competitors,
who prefer to show the blooming fields and use the theme of closeness to nature.

No, Flieger porridges are all natural and good. We just did not want our porridge
to be the same as everything.

We are so happy to add organic certification to our line.”

Emmy’s produces Macaroons and Cereals. Macaroons are available in both 2-oz. bags and 6-oz. gusseted pouches in various flavors including Raspberry, Chai Spice, Lemon Ginger, Chocolate Chip, Mint Chip, and Dark Cacao flavors. How to Prepare

1. SHAKE WELL
Make sure to shake the contents well to get all of the ingredients mixed.

2. ADD HOT WATER
Add hot water so that it is just above the oats about a quarter of an inch. If you like it a little more on the “wet” side then feel free to add more water to taste.

3. COVER WITH LID
I know that you just opened it but it is time to put the lid back on for a bit.

4. STEEP FOR 3 MINUTES
Let stand covered for 3 minutes to allow the water to be fully absorbed and the oats to soften. If you want a little more on the wet side there will still be a little water left, that's okay.

5. STIR WELL AND ENJOY!
Okay it is time to stir well and enjoy!

The Oats
Our oats are custom milled. And that’s why our ingredient list doesn’t say “oats,” it says “groats!” No, that’s not a typo. Groats are the whole hulled grain. Groats include the cereal germ and fiber-rich bran portion as well as the endosperm, which is the usual product of milling. What does that mean? You are getting a larger, thicker, unbleached, whole oat that is not processed into “instant” oats. Bottom line? Our oatmeal is not soft and mushy! Like the chefs say, it’s “al dente!”

The Flavors
We are creating flavors never seen before in oatmeal, and we can’t tell you how fun it is! Oatmeal was one of those healthy American traditions that just grew old and boring. At Umpqua Oats we are making oatmeal fun, fast and convenient, without losing any of the healthfulness!

The Quality
Seriously . . . we buy the best ingredients we can find, and you can tell as soon as you open the lid. There are all kinds of ways to reduce ingredient costs, such as buying broken nut fragments and adding fillers to extend volume. The only grain in Umpqua Oats is whole rolled oat

What is Umpqua?

We hear oomp-kah, oo-kwah, umk and kwum-pah. The P-Q combo really throws people.

Anyway - What is it?

"Umpqua" is a Native American word originally meaning "satisfied stomach!"

A little about us.
The girls did it. It was totally their idea. Mandy and Sheri had a major moment. You know . . . like an epiphany? One day they were talking about how nasty oatmeal packets are, when wham, out of nowhere, they decided to start an oatmeal company in Sheri’s kitchen!

Yep, you get the picture. Sheri, Mandy, the kids . . . pretty much everyone but us guys, all sprinkling ingredients into little cups. Did we think they were crazy? Well, let’s not go there. But, you gotta hand it to ‘em. Creating the best oatmeal in the world took a lot of time and patience. And before they knew it, everyone at home in the Umpqua Valley, had heard of Sheri & Mandy’s “reinvention” of oatmeal.

Today, Umpqua Oats is one of the fastest growing food companies in America! And oh yeah. The girls got the last laugh, because we are working for them! So every time you see the new oatmeal with the funny name, think of us! And know that we are having a great time making the healthiest and best quality oatmeal on the planet. Thanks for buying Umpqua Oats . . . and that’s our story!

Is Your Cereal Breakfast or Dessert?

HellaWella ranked your favorite cereals by sugar content to see just how healthy (or unhealthy) they are

If you’re a serial cereal-eater, you might be knocking out half of your day’s allowance of added sugars at breakfast. We spent some time in the cereal aisle recording the sugar content per serving of 44 of the most popular cereals and were surprised by what we found.

For example, we never would have guessed that Post Raisin Bran contains almost twice as much sugar as Reese’s Puffs. And Kellogg’s Rice Krispies surprised us by clocking in at only 4 grams, while the healthy-sounding Kellogg’s Smart Start ranked fifth in highest sugar content with 14 grams.
