Product Spotlight: NestFresh, Specialty Egg Brand Breaks Ground on Newly Acquired Property

DENVER, CO (May 10, 2015)NestFresh, the leader in sustainable, local, humane and natural eggs, has announced their expansion into a new location, allowing the company to better reach Northeastern consumers. This expansion is a strategic move to meet the growing demand of consumers seeking eggs produced with sustainability and humane treatment as a priority.

From the founding of NestFresh, the Colorado-based company has remained a favorite of communities across the country. With the expansion into this new facility, their mission to provide consumers with the very best eggs from humane, sustainable, family farms continues to guide the company’s every move. Regional farms are relied upon to produce and supply farm fresh eggs in a sustainable system and each farm is specially chosen with animal welfare, stewardship of the land, and local production as a priority. The newest facility is no exception. The processing facility is nearly 36,000 square feet in size and will process and package over 12,500,000 dozen eggs per year with the possibility to double that number should a second shift be added. The facility provides nearly 20 jobs, further supporting local food and agriculture as well as the local economy.

"With this increased expansion, we are able to broaden our reach into new households, providing fresh, local eggs to more regions of the country.  But perhaps more importantly, we are also able to help more families understand and appreciate the purpose, quality, and enhanced flavor behind cage free, pasture raised, and non-GMO free-range eggs," shares Brandy Gamoning, Marketing Manager for NestFresh. "This is an important step in becoming a successful nationally recognized egg producer, providing communities like those in the Northeast with our sustainably and humanely produced eggs from a local facility."

The plant is currently undergoing the process to achieve SQF Level 3 certification as well as third party certifications from Humane Farm Animal Care, American Humane, USDA Organic, Orthodox Union Kosher, and Non-GMO Project Verification. The expansion into this new facility also provides both health-conscious and environmentally conscious consumers in the Northeast with even more ways to support their local farmers through their shopping choices as NestFresh continues to take steps towards procuring more locally-based farms for even fresher eggs.

Company Spotlight: NestFresh Predicts Growth for the Future of the Specialty Egg Industry and Acts Proactively

Innovative Egg Company Thrives Under Increased Consumer Demand

DENVER, CO (April 1, 2015) – NestFresh, one of the most innovative food companies in the nation and a dominant supplier and producer of specialty eggs, has expanded their nationally local supply chain. While many egg producers continue to short orders and deliveries to retail customers due to shifting industry standards and an increase in demand, NestFresh is proud to announce their recent expansion in Northern California, Colorado, Texas, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. The company also plans to expand their production in Minnesota, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Virginia, proving that NestFresh is a company that continues to successfully provide both retailers and consumers with a quality product upon which they can depend amidst competing companies who consistently struggle to do the same.

By proactively addressing the industry issue of egg shorting in 2014, NestFresh was able to thrive while others struggled with the increase in demand. Since beginning their expansion, they have put 600,000 new birds into production. Additionally, 400,000 birds are scheduled to come into production within the next 12 months. With one eye on the current needs of retailers and one eye on consumer demand, NestFresh’s mission is to retain the high standards the company was built upon while providing retailers with the product they need and consumers with the product they crave.

NestFresh eggs are certified cage-free and include products that are Non-GMO Project Verified as well as pasture raised. Leading the way in humane, sustainable farming, the farms producing free range, Non-GMO eggs undergo an extensive process to ensure the feed given to their hens fits the high standards set by the Non-GMO Project. Each farmer involved in raising NestFresh hens cares about the land and animals under their care, so they follow strict animal welfare standards set by NestFresh. Doing so ensures the hens produce the best eggs possible and the consumers take home a carton of healthy, pesticide and GMO free eggs with which they are satisfied.

With the price of commodity eggs and specialty eggs nearly indistinguishable, specialty eggs have surged in sales, revealing new opportunities for NestFresh. “Rising to the top, NestFresh is completing its expansion of nearly one million layers to its supply chain for 2015,” notes Michael Sencer, Executive VP of Hidden Villa Ranch, NestFresh Eggs. “It has also contracted and committed to an additional 300,000 specialty layers in 2016.” NestFresh has continued to meet consumers’ growing needs in the specialty egg industry.

As a part of the plan to address the specialty egg shorting problem, NestFresh is building 25-30 laying hen barns on 15 different farms in at least eight different states. The flocks there will be a combination of cage-free, free-rage, non-GMO, organic and pasture raised birds. The initial family farms for the expansion project are located in California, Colorado, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Iowa and Wisconsin, making the current expansion an intelligent next step for the future of the small family farmers recruited to help with the process as well as for the company.

Company Spotlight: NestFresh™ Cage Free Eggs

What does 100% cage free mean?

100% cage free means that NestFresh never uses cages and never has. You can rest assured that our eggs always come from hens that live in large barns where they can move about freely, socialize with other birds, perch, dustbathe, and lay their eggs in peace with nestboxes.

Since the beginning, NestFresh has always been committed to treating our hens humanely and giving them a more natural way of life. While we try to produce the humane alternative to regular eggs, we also try to produce them in the most local, natural and sustainable way, too. For us, that means NestFresh hens eat only the best vegetarian feed and are never exposed to hormones, antibiotics, or any harmful chemicals. NestFresh Eggs come from small family farms across the country and are packed into recycled, recyclable, and compostable cartons.

Over the years we have continued to add more farms to our network of family farms and developed even more options for people that want the best eggs possible. In addition to the cage free eggs that started NestFresh, we now offer Non-GMO Free Range, Organic, Pasture Raised, Omega-3, and Liquid Eggs from 100% cage free hens. Each of these come from family farms that are committed to sustainable agriculture and humane animal care. We invite you to learn more about us, our farms, and our products.
