Industry News: Braxton Brewing Co. Opens Dedicated Barrel-Aging Brewery and Taproom

Covington’s Premier Brewery Announces Plans for One-Of-A-Kind Barrel-Aging Facility in Fort Mitchell, KY

COVINGTON, KY (May 13, 2019) – Braxton Brewing Co., a local brewery with national recognition, has announced major development plans to expand its presence to Fort Mitchell, Kentucky with the opening of the area’s first barrel-aging brewery and taproom. Expected to open its doors in Fall of 2019, the Braxton Barrel House will offer a unique experience for patrons by giving them the opportunity to create custom private barrel picks of Barrel-Aged brews. The Braxton Barrel House is a prime way to celebrate Kentucky’s rich bourbon culture while continuing to create the unique experiences for which the brewing company is known.

With the establishment of the Braxton Barrel House, the brewery will further cement itself as a true innovator. The location of the brewery and taproom is truly a unique space. Once a Remke grocery store, the 2,000 square foot loading dock will be redeveloped with large glass garage doors and a spacious outdoor patio. Then, the 20,000 square foot warehouse under the main floor will house the Barrel-Age beer, while a taproom for guests will sit on top. Ranging from $500 to $5,000, custom private barrel picks can yield upwards of 300 bottles of barrel aged beer.

“We’ve always been focused on creating one-of-a-kind experiences for our guests – both in the tap room and beyond,” shares Jake Rouse, Co-Founder and CEO of Braxton Brewing. "We’re looking forward to sharing the Braxton Barrel House with Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati-area beer and bourbon drinkers who love Kentucky’s culture as much as we do. To our knowledge, this is the nation’s first dedicated private barrel program, and we’re so proud to open the doors to our newest location."

“The Braxton Barrel House and entertainment venue is very exciting and adds to the unique characteristics of our city,” said Fort Mitchell Mayor, Jude Hehman. “We look forward to the transformation of the Remke site and welcome new businesses like Braxton that will add to the walkability and neighborhood-friendly culture we are creating.”

Braxton is a brewery dedicated to making a material impact on a very fast-growing beer industry. Fulfilling that promise, Braxton is creating a facility and experience for customers to participate in the barrel aging process. The brewery’s Barrel House expansion was a decision based on the company’s desire to celebrate the deep-seated Kentucky heritage which the company knows and loves.

Industry News: Braxton Brewing Co. Takes Adult Beverages to New Heights As Region’s First Brewery to Offer Better-For-You Hard Seltzer

Local Brewing Company Challenges Alcoholic Beverage Category with Surprising New Offering

COVINGTON, KY (December 17, 2018) – Braxton Brewing Co., a Cincinnati-area brewing company, will reshape the hard seltzer scene with a new variety that makes it Ohio and Northern Kentucky’s first brewery to embark on such an endeavor. This Braxton Brewing Co. hard seltzer will bring consumers an adult-friendly beverage, crafted with Pure Kentucky Artisan Water, only 100 calories and two grams of carbs. Vive Hard Seltzer will be available early 2019 in four naturally flavored varieties; Mango, Lime, Dragonfruit and Grapefruit. The spiked sparkling drink tempts beer drinkers with a light delight, which Kroger shoppers can look for as a 12-count Variety Pack of 12 oz. slim cans, a six-count Mango Pack of 12 oz. slim cans and a six-count Lime Pack of 12 oz. slim cans.

Vive Hard Seltzer is not only a first for Braxton Brewing Co., but also puts Braxton on the map as the region’s first brewery to release an adult beverage of this kind. Each slim can boasts 5% ALC/VOL, is gluten free, just 100 calories and two grams of carbs. As a lighter alternative to other alcoholic beverages, Vive refuses to compromise. Every naturally flavored variety is a new way for alcoholic beverages to be enjoyed guilt-free and is made with Pure Kentucky Artisan Water – an ingredient unique to many of Braxton Brewing Co.’s other brews and to Vive Hard Seltzer.

“Working on the Vive Hard Seltzer product has been both challenging and rewarding," said Evan Rouse, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Braxton Brewing Company. "When opening Braxton, I never thought we would be making a move into the FMB bev-alc category, but I am extremely excited we have decided to explore this sector.”

The process of creating a hard seltzer is unlike that of creating a beer, according to Braxton Brewing Co. It is an entirely new process relying on new and unique equipment that allows the brewery to create a clear, neutral, pure base, that when unflavored and uncarbonated, highly resembles water. Over six months of research on the category and even more time on product research and development went into making Vive the innovative।

"There's no doubt that today's customer is changing the way they consume alcoholic beverages. We had a long talk with our team about this move and couldn't be more thrilled to bring to life a brand that celebrates the passion and craft that we bring to our beer every day to Vive - a hard seltzer celebrating Kentucky's amazing water and a better-for-you alcoholic beverage," said Jake Rouse, Co-Founder and CEO at Braxton Brewing Company. "To be first to market with a local hard seltzer speaks wonders about our team’s commitment and passion for innovation. I can't wait for consumers to try Vive in early 2019!"

Vive is one of many prestigious projects Braxton Brewing Co. has undertaken within the past year. Most recently, the brewing company was named a Rising Star, publicly solidifying its dedication to excellence. Braxton Brewing Co. now stands alongside only four other small beer companies recognized for their rise to national notoriety.

CINCINNATI, OH – Braxton Brewing Co., a local brewing company, and Graeter’s Ice Cream, a 147-year-old, family owned craft ice cream company, will re-launch the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout that began their partnership. This Braxton Brewing Co. flavor brings beer drinkers an adult-friendly beverage reminiscent of Graeter’s signature Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. New changes have been made to the recipe, adding more pure black raspberry puree to the beer. Also, for the first time, the brew will be available in Columbus and Nashville.

The unique milk stout will once again be available starting in early February at Cincinnati, Dayton, Lexington, Louisville, Nashville and Columbus-area Kroger markets for a limited time. It will be introduced at a Tapping Party on February 3rd at Braxton Brewing Co.’s Covington Taproom whereby the community will be invited to celebrate its re-launch.

The Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout is a creatively crafted beverage inspired by one of Graeter’s oldest traditional flavors. Based on feedback from customers last year, the brewery has infused even more of Graeter’s proprietary pure Black Raspberry purée. Braxton Brewing Co. also changed the character of roasted malt to give it a more crisp flavor profile that is distinctively Graeter’s. Using Graeter’s exclusive black raspberry puree, Braxton Brewing Co. crafted this one-of-a-kind milk stout, a dark brew with notes of roasted barley and a creamy texture. This sweet treat will only be available for purchase for a limited time.

"It’s great to be able to work once again with this beloved local Cincinnati craft brand that puts as high an emphasis on authenticity as we do," said Jake Rouse, Co-Founder and CEO. "We hand-crafted a new recipe to ensure that we released a beer we know craft food and beer lovers will appreciate, and the new Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout recipe does just that."

“We’re excited to once again partner with Braxton Brewing Co. to release a milk stout that truly speaks to craft food and drink lovers,” shares Robert Graeter, 4th generation co-owner and Chief of Quality Assurance at Graeter’s Ice Cream. “Both Braxton Brewing Co. and Graeter’s are dedicated to the art of our craft brands, and the re-launch of the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout is a reflection of that.”

This collaboration between Graeter’s Ice Cream and the Braxton Brewing Co. is preceded by 2017’s launch of Graeter’s Stout & Pretzels Ice Cream. Consumers can celebrate the re-launch of Braxton Brewing Co.’s Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout at a Tapping Party at the Braxton Brewing Co. Taproom on Saturday, February 3.
