Cincinnati-Based Brands Bring Beer and Dessert Together to Create Stout & Pretzels Ice Cream
CINCINNATI, OH (September 19, 2017) – Graeter’s Ice Cream, a 147-year-old, family owned craft ice cream company, and Braxton Brewing Co., a local brewing company, introduce first-of-its-kind Stout & Pretzels Ice Cream. This Graeter’s flavor has been inspired by the success found in Graeter’s and Braxton’s previous collaborations – Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout and Blueberry Pie Brown Ale. The unique ice cream was previewed at Braxton Brewing Co.’s booth at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati and will be introduced for purchase in Graeter’s scoop shops and online the first week of October.
The one-of-a-kind Stout & Pretzels ice cream is a creatively crafted ice cream influenced by Braxton Brewing Co.’s Dead Blow Tropical Stout. Eighty pounds of macerated dates are brewed with a Dry English Ale yeast to provide a vibrant, fruity and tropical aroma with a subtle amount of fruity esters. Dead Blow is a dry, full bodied, smooth stout that is lighter on bitterness.
Similarly, Graeter’s Stout & Pretzels ice cream will mimic the flavorful notes found in Braxton’s brew to create an ice cream with crunchy pretzels to compliment each distinct note. This sweet treat will only be available for purchase for a limited time.
“Having partnered with Braxton Brewing Co. on this year’s Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout as well as the Blueberry Pie Brown Ale, it’s exciting to be able to turn the tables and incorporate Dead Blow into a new ice cream creation,” shares Robert Graeter, 4th generation co-owner and Chief of Quality Assurance at Graeter’s Ice Cream. “As true craft brands, we are both passionate about and committed to preserving our authenticity in each new culinary adventure.”
"We’re a proud Cincinnati brand, and it’s wonderful to be able to surprise and delight both Braxton and Graeter’s fans through this collaboration," said Jake Rouse, Co-Founder and CEO. "From concept to creation, it’s always a thrill to be able to be a part of something that we know will bring a smile to consumers’ faces, as we know Graeter’s new Stout & Pretzels Ice Cream will."
Regina Graeter’s original recipes and old-world French Pot process have stood the test of time – even as mass-produced ice cream floods the market. This innovative collaboration between Graeter’s Ice Cream and Braxton Brewing Co. is an ode to her time-tested recipes, taken to an even higher level by the addition of Braxton Brewing Co.’s passion for crafting the perfect beer.
Graeter’s Ice Cream produces craft ice cream using the small batch, artisanal, French Pot process, dating back over a century. Graeter’s has won the hearts of ice cream enthusiasts across the country as well as the respect of the nation’s most influential foodies. Winner of the 2015 Munchie Award for best ice cream in the United States, and publicly recognized by celebrities, People Magazine and local magazines as the city’s “best ice cream”, the Cincinnati-based company remains family-owned and operated and continues to handcraft ice cream 2½ gallons at a time. Today, Graeter’s has more than 50 retail stores and ship over 300,000 pints annually for online mail order sales. Graeter’s can also be found in more than 6,000 grocery stores in 46 states.
