Alcohol Spotlight: Ciderboys Goes Bananas with New Strawberry Banana Hard Cider

Wisconsin cidermaker introduces Banana Bliss wherever Ciderboys is sold

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (September 26, 2019) - Ciderboys is shaking things up with a new limited release, Banana Bliss. The first of its kinds, this banana-infused hard cider balances flavors of freshly-picked strawberries, delicious tart apple, and aromatic banana for a smooth finish.
Ciderboys hopes consumers can relive summer vibes all fall long; Banana Bliss is like a smoothie in a glass. This Apple Strawberry Banana Hard Cider can be found wherever Ciderboys products are sold. This new limited release is available now through the end of fall while supplies last in six-packs of 12-ounce longneck bottles

"The pairing of strawberry and banana is classic, and we were ready to put our spin on it with hard cider," said Julie Birrenkott, Ciderboys' Marketing Director. "The pairing is so refreshing, whether you're drinking it on a warm fall day picking apples or on a cool night by the campfire. Some might say Banana Bliss is an 'appealing' opportunity we couldn't pass up."

Ciderboys Cider Co.'s unique "fruitful pairings" blend unexpected fresh fruit flavors with the crisp taste of apple cider -- and that's the recipe for Banana Bliss, too. Chief Cidermaker Mike Schraufnagel and his team blended a balanced combination of natural

Strawberry and Banana, which paired wonderfully with the apple goodness Ciderboys is known for. As Mike states, "When drinking Banana Bliss, the first thing that comes to mind is fresh strawberries, followed with smooth banana notes. In the end, it's a great combination and it comes together very nicely."

A subsidiary of the Steven Point Brewery, the Ciderboys Cider Co. makes its carbonated hard ciders with natural fruit and apple juice from fresh Washington State apples. No sugar is added to Ciderboys products, which are naturally gluten free.

In addition to new Banana Bliss, the Ciderboys family includes year-round First Press, a traditional hard cider; British Dry, an English-style dry cider with a refined bite; and Strawberry Magic, a combination of fresh strawberries and cider; summer seasonals Peach County, a pleasing blend of peaches and apples; Pineapple Hula, which pairs fresh Hawaiian pineapple with cider; and La Vida Sangria, perfect blend of fruit, citrus, and spice; fall seasonals Cranberry Road, an inspired pairing of apple cider with cranberries; and Blackberry Wild, a walk on the wild side with plump, ripe, blackberries; spring seasonal Raspberry Smash, a fruitful pairing of crisp apple cider with tart raspberries; and winter seasonals Mad Bark, spiced with cinnamon; and Grand Mimosa, made with juicy oranges.

Drink Spotlight: Tinto Amorío launches new Spanish Wine Cocktail in response to shifting millennial consumption habits

NEW YORK, Oct. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Tinto Amorío announced today that it is releasing its first sparkling wine cocktail - Red Wine of the Summer™ - with limited availability in New York and online. The brand was created in response to a shift in millennial consumption habits in the alcoholic beverage and wine categories. Their first flavor is based on a Spanish wine cocktail - Tinto de Verano – which originated in Cordoba, Spain in the early 1900s. The flavor is in a new cocktail category – sparkling wine cocktails – and features a low-calorie profile, natural ingredients, and a refreshing lemon spritz.

"We are excited to get Tinto into the hands of millennial consumers," said Anish Patel, CEO & Founder of Tinto Amorío. "Millennials have started to shift consumption habits towards products that have an authentic story and deliver an experience. We already know they want more sparkling beverages, natural and low-calorie options, as well as premium products, but they also crave something that's new, and something that they can talk about and believe in. We check all of those boxes. Tinto Amorío is as much a conversation piece and experience, as it is a phenomenal product. We aren't just packaging wine in a can as most of the industry is trending towards. The only innovation in canned wine is in the packaging. We are introducing a brand-new cocktail category, flavor profile, and authentic experience to consumers who are looking to get to know brands and products on a more intimate level."

Tinto Amorío is committed to staying true to its Spanish wine cocktail origins as it discusses the story behind Tinto de Verano and its origins at the hands of Federico Vargas. Vargas operated an establishment, The Brilliante, where artists and bohemians found refuge on their travels through Cordoba in the early 1900s. He blended a mix of red wine with lemon soda pop for his patrons, which soon came to be known as: "Tinto de Verano" or Red Wine of the Summer. A legacy began at The Brilliante that spread like wildfire through Spain, and made Tinto de Verano into a household name.

Anish was first introduced to Tinto de Verano and other Spanish wine cocktails while in Cádiz, Spain, and knew they were the perfect response to shifting millennial consumptions habits back home in the states. A true labor of love, Tinto Amorío took 7 months and countless iterations to formulate their Red Wine of the Summer™. They were passionate about making sure it tasted perfect and that it wasn't just another commercially viable wine product, but one that was true to its roots. Red Wine of the Summer™ is translated from "Tinto de Verano" however the semi-sweet taste profile of this sparkling red wine cocktail is a perfect blend to be enjoyed year-round. "The flavor profile is complex enough that it draws you in and captures your attention, but it is also simple enough that you can distinguish hints of lemon and citrus. It's not another summer party drink; it's a finely crafted wine cocktail," described Anish.

Tinto Amorío also has a commitment to social responsibility and is donating a portion of every sale directly to causes in the community. Each production run is dedicated to a new cause with their 2017 run being dedicated to the Children's Hospital of LA.

Red Wine of the Summer™ is available in 4-packs for a suggested retail price of $20. Tinto's first cocktail is 110 calories, made with Natural Ingredients, and with No Artificial Flavors, Sweeteners, or Preservatives. It's also Gluten Free.

Drink Spotlight: Wild Tonic Raspberry Goji Rose Jun Kombucha

About the Company

The Origin of Jun is Steeped in Ancient Lore

A rare cousin of kombucha, Jun is made by fermenting tea and honey with a SCOBY. The Jun SCOBY (culture) and kombucha SCOBY (Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast) look similar but thrive on a completely different basis. A Jun SCOBY is a distinct culture with its own benefits and unique flavor profile. Our authentic heirloom Jun SCOBY feeds on honey and is uniquely adapted to work with the host of bacteria, organisms and antimicrobial properties present in honey. The result of this fermentation is a delicious and health-advantageous drink that contains prebiotics, probiotics and amino acids, with a light and smooth taste. Jun is pleasing to the palate in comparison to traditional kombucha.

To preserve the probiotics, Wild Tonic Jun Kombucha is never pasteurized. Fermented with honey, Wild Tonic is both prebiotic and probiotic. Probiotics introduce good bacteria into the gut that is essential for beneficial digestive health. Prebiotics are carbohydrates that are not digestible. Their purpose is to fertilize and fuel the probiotics as they serve their purpose.

What makes Wild Tonic superior to other beverages?

Exquisite flavor created by fermenting with honey rather than sugar
Brewed with innovative proprietary processes, assuring the highest quality
Packaged in our signature cobalt blue bottles, protecting the probiotics from harmful UV light
Brewed with organic ingredients and naturally gluten free
Unique flavor pairings of herbs, spices and botanicals that enhance the characteristics of honey
Healthy alternative to sodas and other sugary drinks

The finest tea, along with filtered water, honey, and raw Jun culture are brewed together to create the extraordinary taste of Wild Tonic Jun Kombucha. Honey provides nutrition for the culture during the fermentation process, which then converts the honey into an effervescent drink, that is naturally low in sugar, calories, carbohydrates and caffeine. Make Wild Tonic a delicious part of your healthy lifestyle!

Alcohol Spotlight: ClearVia™ Probiotic Blend That Helps Naturally Metabolize Alcohol Launches Nationwide

Social Drinkers Can Now Wake Up Like They Stayed In

NEW YORK, April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, ClearVia™, a first of its kind, clinically tested probiotic that naturally supports the body's ability to metabolize alcohol,* launched nationwide.  A proprietary probiotic blend, ClearVia has been proven to help the body's natural ability to break down alcohol while sleeping so after a night of enjoying a few drinks busy professionals can wake up clear and ready to take on their day.  The single-use, fast-dissolving, caffeine-free packets can be taken with water after an evening of drinking and before going to sleep.  The orange flavored powder dissolves in the mouth allowing drinkers to wake up clear and sharp.

According to a recent Gallup poll**, nearly two thirds of Americans drink alcohol.  Most Americans who drink alcohol do so regularly, as 67% reported having had at least one drink in the past week; 32% of Americans reported they had between one and seven drinks in the past week.

The body can take a while to metabolize alcohol, often leaving drinkers with the lingering, groggy effects the next day.  ClearVia's unique offering is that it's a probiotic, and like other probiotics it supports the body's natural function.  It specifically works by providing support to the liver so it can better metabolize alcohol.  The probiotic blend helps turn troublesome acetaldehyde, that is formed when the body incompletely metabolizes alcohol, into mild acetic acid (vinegar).  The more acetaldehyde build up someone has in their body the worse off they will feel in the morning.  As people age, their body becomes less efficient at metabolizing alcohol.  The activity of the enzymes necessary to process acetaldehyde decreases, which means it spends more time hanging out in the body causing unpleasant feelings in the morning.

ClearVia was specifically designed for busy working professionals who enjoy having drinks with friends or colleagues after work but don't want to feel groggy and unproductive the next morning.  It compliments an active lifestyle of those with full schedules who enjoy moderate drinking but are also health conscious.

"We designed ClearVia for the social drinker who has lots of responsibilities balancing work and family and can't afford to miss a beat," says Mauro Pennella, President ClearVia Labs.  "It's a great aid for the professional who often socializes with clients as part of their work."

ClearVia is currently available on Amazon and directly from ClearVia.com starting in May.  It's available for a SRP of $14.99 for 5 single packets or $24.99 for 10 single packets.  In addition, ClearVia is also available to be purchased in bulk of 50 single serve packets that make unique party favors for any weddings or corporate functions, which will be available from ClearVia.com starting in May.

Spirits News: The House of Angostura Introduces: Angostura 1787 Super-Premium 15YO Rum

LAVENTILLE, Trinidad & Tobago, Sept. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The House of Angostura has announced the launch of a new, super-premium, 15 year-old aged rum: Angostura® 1787 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

An exquisite sipping rum, Angostura® 1787 commemorates the establishment of the first sugar mill in Trinidad, at the famous Lapeyrouse sugar plantation, in 1787. It is made from a selection of rums carefully chosen from the House of Angostura's vast ageing warehouses, each of which has been ageing for 15 years in charred oak barrels.

Among the best of the best, Angostura® 1787 honours the tradition of excellence established by the House of Angostura almost two centuries ago, combining traditional ageing skills with contemporary blending expertise, to create a spirit of multi-faceted sensory appeal.

"Angostura® 1787 celebrates the history of a quintessentially Caribbean spirit, highlights the importance of rum in our history, and promotes the awareness of rum as the true spirit of Trinidad and Tobago," says Executive Manager – International Sales & Marketing, Genevieve Jodhan.

A rich mahogany in colour with hints of bronze, Angostura® 1787 is beautifully balanced, with a medium-bodied palate, and a sweet bouquet of banana, dried fruit and oak with top notes of apples. Its taste carries a hint of dried prunes and sweet rounded oak notes entwined with toffee nuances, with a long, crisp finish.

It offers all the quality and taste expected by Angostura's® aficionados.

Angostura® 1787 Rum is the newest addition to the House of Angostura's award-winning family of premium rums, a range which includes Angostura® 7 Year Old Rum, Angostura 1919® and Angostura 1824®. It is presented in a heavy, rounded bottle with a thick glass base, emblazoned with the signature of Dr. J.G.B. Seigert, the founder of Angostura®, and packaged in an exquisite, heavy brown and orange box.

Angostura® 1787 is a premium 15 year-old rum, backed by the House of Angostura's more than 130 years of expertise in the art of rum making. This exquisite sipping rum commemorates the establishment of the first sugar mill at the famous Lapeyrouse sugar plantation in Trinidad, in 1787. Imagine the cheers that must have greeted the first trickles of sweet, golden-green sugar cane juice flowing from the great rollers of the sugar mill. A rich bounty, not just the golden crystals of sugar, but that fascinating new spirit, rum, distilled from its secondary product, molasses.
Angostura® 1787, a rum to celebrate history.

The Year 1787: A Historical Note
In 1776, Trinidad, then a colony of Spain, finally opened its shores to the French planters of the Eastern Caribbean islands to. It was the beginning of the transformation of Trinidad from a Spanish backwater to the newest sugar plantation frontier. The sugar revolution, which had swept the Caribbean since the beginning of the century, had finally arrived.

The year 1787, the year which Angostura® 1787 Rum celebrates, was a landmark year in this context. For it was then that Trinidad's very first sugar mill was established at the Lapeyrouse Estate. After that there was no turning back; change was rapid for this late blooming plantation economy and, just ten years later, the number of sugar plantations had leapt to 159 — huge estates that so captured the attention of the British, that they seized the colony in 1797!

In this sense, 1787 marked Trinidad's inevitable climb to the heights of fine rum production. During the 17th and 18th century, planters preferred European imported drinks but by the end of the 18th century rum had become universally popular. From pirates and buccaneers to English Navy men, to the plantation owners themselves, everyone drank rum! It is this blending legacy that the House of Angostura® is keeping alive with the exquisite homage that is, Angostura® 1787 Rum!

The House of Angostura
Capitalizing on its heritage as the world's most well-known maker of aromatic bitters, the House of Angostura has catapulted into the 21st century with an exquisite range of rums, the magnificent Amaro di ANGOSTURA® and of course, ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters and ANGOSTURA® orange bitters, now in demand in more than 170 countries across the world.

The Making of Angostura Rums
The rums of the House of Angostura are a treasured legacy, a tribute to the evolution of the rum industry in the Caribbean and the men and women who nurtured it. The House of Angostura owns the only rum distillery in Trinidad today, and controls its rum manufacturing process from end to end. Our rums are blended by masters with years of experience and training in original traditions, who closely maintain guarded formulas and techniques. Master Distiller, John Georges and our blenders are involved at every stage to ensure the highest quality and consistency, from molasses selection through to cask selection. As Master Distiller Georges says: "Our rums are 100% Trinidadian, made in one distillery on one Island. Much like a single malt only better."

The House of Angostura is renowned for its unique, signature style, which stems from techniques that have stood the test of time. Our premium rums are made from the highest quality molasses fermented with proprietary yeast cultures, distilled in continuous stills, then aged in charred oak barrels.

The House of Angostura: A Rich Rum History
The House of Angostura's award winning rums are steeped in more than 190 years of tradition. The journey started in 1824 when founder Dr. Johann Siegert first produced aromatic bitters in Angostura, Venezuela (today called Ciudad Bolivar).  In the 1870's, Dr. Siegert's three sons migrated to Trinidad, among them Don Carlos Siegert, who pioneered the brand, establishing ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters as an integral ingredient in premium cocktails and ultimately a mainstay of cocktail culture. The family's Siegert Bouquet Rum became a Trinidadian tradition up until the early 1960's and part of the company's rich rum heritage.  In the 1970's, The House of Angostura expanded, acquiring the Fernandes family distillery, which was founded in the 1890's by Manoel Fernandes, an immigrant from Portugal, and known for making high quality rums.
