Pasta Lensi Red Lentil Fusilli

Made with flour from ground red lentils, our Pasta Lensi Red Lentil Fusilli has a rich red hue that brings brightness to any dish. It catches sauce between its curls and provides 26 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber per 100 gram portion*. It is also gluten free, vegan, low fat, low in sodium, cholesterol free, and a good source of potassium and iron per serving.

Fusilli means spindles, and are often seen as single or double spirals. The shape originates in the central and southern regions of Italy, but has become common around the world today due to its versatility. Our Red Lentil Fusilli is great when paired with vegetable-based sauces, or in our Tomato Yogurt Cream Sauce with Coriander.

Pasta Lensi Yellow Lentil Penne Rigate

Made with flour ground from yellow lentils, our Pasta Lensi Yellow Lentil Penne Rigate has a golden color reminiscent of traditional semolina pasta. It is an ideal option for your favorite pasta dishes, and offers 23 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber per 100 gram portion*. The penne rigate shape draws its name from quills, or the old metal pennino (pen), ancient Italians dipped in ink for writing. Its most recognizable feature is its oblique, or diagonal, end and our penne is ridged (rigate) rather than smooth (lisce). Our Chickpea Casarecce can be used in casseroles and baked dishes and is excellent in our “Hummus” Pasta Salad with Tahini dressing.

Our Black Bean Sedani can be paired with both light cream or cheese sauces and heartier, meat-based sauces, and is excellent in this Black Bean Migas

About the Company
In the quaint medieval village of Vinci, where inspiration thrived in the heart and brush of Leonardo Da Vinci, artisans worked their family crafts in old stone buildings with terracotta tile roofs along the cobblestone streets.

L’arte della pasta was the trade of Signor Vasco Lensi in 1920. He and his family hand made small batches of pasta, leaving them to dry in the sun-drenched open air. They packed the pasta in paper bags, loaded them into the back of the small family truck and rumbled through the hillsides of Vinci and Florence, passing vineyards and open farmland, to make home deliveries of fresh-made pasta.

Through 40 years, the family business blossomed under Mr. Lensi’s guidance as he tutored his son Marzio in the business. Marzio added updated equipment to the growing operation and eventually built a pastificio (pasta kitchen) with full production lines. With a continued commitment to the time-honored trade, he introduced new products into the European market. Some of his early innovations included organic, tri color and special wheat pastas.

Throughout the past several decades, Pasta Lensi has become well known for innovation while staying true to L’arte della pasta.
