Female high-flyers drink twice as much as working-class women

Successful career women drink more than twice as much as those in routine jobs, according to official figures.

High-flying females consume an average of 11.2 units of alcohol a week compared to 5.2 units amongst women working as cleaners or in other manual roles.

The statistics show women's drinking habits are far more dependent on social status than they are amongst men.
