Beginning

It was winter and I was driving south. I wanted to get to a beach, and where I live, you go south for warmer weather. The sun was high and I was thirsty for something other than water. I spotted a joint that would probably do the trick. The cantina stood next to a giant cactus that was probably a thousand years old. I figured the adobe bricks could’ve been that age, too. The locals didn’t seem to mind a gringo's presence as I bellied up at the bar. “Want to Get Hot, señor?” the purveyor asked me. “Sure,” I said, and he slid a golden Reposado my way. I took it back and was struck by the spicy heat of a tequila that started bold but faded just as fast. No lime or salt needed here, I thought. That drink has lived with me ever since.

Hand-made in the Highlands of Jalisco from a historic distillery that bottled its first tequila in 1911. This is my contribution to fine living.

Ingredients:
3 oz Modelo Especial™
1 1/2 oz. Reposado Tequila
1 oz. Simple Syrup
1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
Salt
Chili Powder
Lime

Method: Rim a chilled martini glass with salt and chili powder. Combine
tequila, simple syrup, lime juice and ice in a shaker and shake vigorously.
Strain into the glass and top with Modelo Especial™.

Ingredients:
3-4 oz. Modelo Negra™
3/4 oz. Mezcal
3/4 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz. Agave Syrup (1:1 ratio agave nectar to water)
3 bar spoons Worcestershire Sauce
3 dashes Habanero Bitters
4 slices Habanero Peppers
Tajín® Clásico Seasoning
Red Chili Slices
Lime Wheel

Method: Rim a Collins glass with Tajín Clásico Seasoning. Add all
ingredients to a shaker, excluding Modelo Negra™, Tajín Clásico Seasoning
rim, red chili slices and lime wheel. Shake and strain into the Collins
glass. Top with Modelo Negra™.

Drink Launch: Estrella Jalisco Makes Its Debut In The U.S.

 

LOS ANGELESApril 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Jalisco region of Mexico is known for its mariachi music, handcrafted art, and as the birthplace of Estrella Jalisco beer. Starting this month, the refreshing, light-flavored pilsner from Guadalajara, Jalisco will be available in the U.S., bringing its more than 100 years of Mexican brewing tradition to America.

Drink Spotlight: Buho Mexican Sodas

 

 

 

"A new generation of sodas for a new generation of consumers!" This is the result of a great trip with friends to Oaxaca and more than a year in development of the product till its perfection. The idea of this project begun in a visit I made from my native country Germany to Mexico.  The trip was organized to the city of Oaxaca with some friends that I met during a university exchange.  After buying cola flavored sodas and energy drinks, to avoid falling asleep while driving back to Mexico City, we crossed the beautiful Sierra Madre and its incomparable nature and thought it was illogic to love nature so much and yet consume artificial drinks.

 

On my way back to Germany, I decided to make the dream of making modern and honest sodas a reality: a combination of exquisite flavor, less calories, natural ingredients, spring water and sweetened with a Mexican organic product  as is the agave nectar of Jalisco in combination with natural stevia.

 

I didn't understand why Mexico being a producing country of delicious and varied fruits, its population must drink artificial drinks with great doses of sugar. It is important to care for the health of those that inhabit this beautiful country.

 

Now in Mexico, I started the materialization of the project.
