Packaging Spotlight: JHAKAAS! Energy Drink

Brief
We were told to design the packaging of an energy drink named ‘Jhakaas!’ with the Red Bull can dimensions. Since I wanted to visually represent going from static to dynamic on my can, I used scanimation (Moire Pattern) to show the movement of gear wheels in the mind, which shows that having this drink energises both your body and mind.

A popular mango drink, that’s been around since 1985. And rated as India’s Most Trusted Fruit Beverage Brand. Jersey buttermilk is prepared with fresh quality milk under the influence of lactic acid bacteria at around 40 degrees Celsius. The milk, inoculated with bacterial culture, is hygienically packed in clean food grade plastic cups and sealed by an automated packing machine prior to incubation. Hi, my name is Rajvi Mehta. I’m a first year medical student at Duke University and the founder of Let’s Be Well Red, a social venture combating iron-deficiency anemia in India.

Iron-deficiency anemia is the world’s MOST PREVALENT nutritional disorder. People who suffer from anemia have low levels of iron and low levels of healthy red blood cells. Since iron is crucial for proper growth and development, anemia:

Causes fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath
Can lead to heart failure or miscarriages in adults
May result in permanent learning disabilities in children

It’s especially a MASSIVE HEALTH PROBLEM in my home country, INDIA. It affects an estimated 900 million lives, including over 55% of women and 70% of children.

Why is anemia so prevalent in India? There are many socioeconomic and epidemiologic factors involved, but mostly, the majority of Indians do not get sufficient iron through their diet.

HOW can we allow this disease to continue ravaging the lives of millions when the solution is as simple as a diet change? A healthy dose of iron is all that is needed to prevent anemia.

In 2012, Let’s Be Well Red launched GudNeSs bars, our simple and delicious solution to anemia. GudNeSs is an iron-rich nutritional bar that contains the World Health Organization daily recommended dose of iron, 14 mg.

INGREDIENTS

Made with the help of nutritionists, a sprinkling of LOVE, and containing just the right amount of iron. We use local ingredients to make a bar that is rich in iron and other nutrients. GudNeSs contains:

G – ‘Gud’ or Jaggery – The sweet flavor of GudNeSs
N – ‘Nachani’ or Finger Millet – A rich source of iron and calcium
S – Sesame and flax seeds – contribute more iron and other minerals

The production unit will allow us to produce more bars and cut the cost of delivering them. About the Company
Our mum taught Indian cooking around Oxfordshire for years. Her simple home-cooked recipes wowed her students too, who pleaded with her to bottle her unique flavours. And Holy Cow! was born, in the summer of ‘99.
