Anheuser-Busch Seeks to Trademark 42 U.S. Airports

Anheuser-Busch InBev has filed trademark applications to use the codes for 42 U.S. airport for use in its beer-brewing business, the St. Louis Business Journal reports.

The brewery paid about $11,550 in trademark application fees. If the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approves the filings, Anheuser-Busch has up to three years to use the trademarks. The International Air Transport Association actually owns the trademarks on the airport codes themselves, but companies are allowed to incorporate them in separate trademark applications for use in commerce.

Last year, the brewer filed trademark applications for 14 area codes across the United States
